The Game of Catch

I've been playing "catch" lately with the squeaky toys. Mom throws them and me and I catch them and slobber all over them. I love it when they squeak and squeal because I think I am killing some small defenseless rodent. Fun!

You know, people frown on it, but I love to chase small things too.

Lately I have been chasing this pesky bee around, but don't tell your mom 'cause I heard she likes bees and even names them!

I just found out when small rodents stop squeaking and moving, they're dead! I had no idea. No wonder when you paw them after you play with them they don't move anymore, I always wondered about that.

But that still doesn't make it not fun, especially those plastic ones, I don't thing they ever die unless you pull the squeaky thing out of the middle of them.

Hey Splash and Cal,

Yeah, Mom loves her bee! She thinks she might have a new career as an Apidae Photographer. That photo in the right hand column of my blog was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle along with a story about BOB, our bee (click on the photo for the story).

I can't chase anything anymore but I can still catch stuff in my great big jaws. I don't pull my toys apart the way Elsa the Meanie does.

I always say that the only good rodent is a dead rodent. Mom doesn't agree with me except when it comes to gophers, and there are plenty of live ones around here but no dead ones.

Hi Sammy,

I have never really gotten into those squeaky toys. I like the furry type. My friend Tule loves the squeakers. When she comes over and decides it is time to raid the toy basket she picks out the noisey ones. When she finds the right one she takes it into the living room and begins to play tunes on it. Sqeak, sqeak, sqeak...until she makes a nuisance of herself. The humans think it's cute and wag their heads. I just sit there wondering when she will get the hint..ENOUGH ALL READY!! But I still love her.

Freda
